Today we caught up with Sandy Stewart for a quick audio interview. Sandy has a great depth of experience with a senior career stretching from 1987 to 2005 that included captaining at a cup final and against Sparta Prague in a European tie. His managerial career included time at Airdrie United, one match in charge of St. Johnstone (but what a match St. Johnstone won the 2007 Scottish Challenge Cup Final). He is also well known from his time working with Owen Coyle at Burnley, Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic, Houston Dynamo, Blackburn Rovers, and Ross County. His experience as an assistant manager thus stretches from The English Premier League, Scottish Premier League, English Championship, to Major League Soccer in the US. He is highly respected as a coach and now he has been brought in to assist Ayr United in the Championship.

Useful additional to the back room staff. Welcome to Ayr Utd Sandy.

He is vastly experienced but Bolton, Wigan, Blackburn and Ross County were all relegated after Coyle/Stewart had disastrous spells in charge - hopefully we can break his recent cycle.
