I take it sleazy CalvinAyre's money goes into a black hole and the club continue to attempt to fleece the die hards instead of attempting to make local connections. In the long term it hasn't worked. We just bumble along with no real plan, success dependant on how we are doing on the field. Can't the directors get out and about and make an impression. Not everything needs to cost a great deal of money or time, just to raise our local profile.

Decent signing at left back, young but done well at this level previously - by implication of what McCall says in the AP we identified Harvie as the right player and held out for him so I'll take my comments back, maybe there is some evidence of a plan.

Surprised it didn't go all pear shape if he signed for someone else and then we would still be looking for the left back. I guess behind the scenes it was known a done deal but never a deal until signed, still can't forget Shackland story of heading to Somerset to sign but ended up at Morton.

Can't help but thinking Shankland signed for us at the right time - had the above happened he would have been coming off the back of poor spell with St Midden, so we would have had low expectations/limited patience as we were looking for a saviour, and joining struggling team and would probably not have worked for him.

Joined us last season when we were playing well , we had limited expectations when he arrived but weren't looking for a saviour. Totally regained his confidence and absolutely massive amount of goodwill/patience built up with the support, so will be given time, by us at least, to adapt to the championship. I think that played a big part in his decision to  stay with us - knowing he will get the chance to adapt, develop and deliver - went anywhere else as a 25+ goal striker and the expectation would be to hit the ground running immediately.

I think Shankland will do well this season coming but there may be some adapting so might not happen straight away - a lot of his play last season was like watching an under 20 boy playing with the under 14's, he was that far ahead of everyone - will be a wee bit harder in the weeks/months to come.

I am very pleased that we have managed to keep a settled squad and I believe that those who were released were the correct decisions.  I am looking forward to the step up and new challenge.  Last year it was July when Ian McCall brought in his new signings, so looking forward to seeing if there is more to come.  Have to say the goalkeeper situation worries me though. C'mon the Ayr!

if mccrorie is cming on loan i don't see any reason why it couldnt have been settled and announced already, surely the player doesn't need to be here for a loan deal?

regarding the frees i would have kept Reid who i thought did welll last season......

I don’t see how we don’t have the ‘budget’ for signings. Surely hasn’t gave every player a massive wage rise and we’ve got a smaller squad than last season. Strange.

Liam Smith is a good signing and he did very well last season on loan at St Mirren.  So another Scotland under 21 player to add to our squad with Championship experience.  I think this will be a better balance to the team.
