Death of a Sporting Icon
« on: June 04, 2016, 07:59:56 »
A very sad day.Ali was a giant amongst giants, what a man,an  extraordinary human being who we will never see his likes again. In his life he took on the scourge of racial prejudice which had been ever present in his life since he was born.He also took on the might of the U.S government when they tried to force him to fight in Vietnam, stripped him of his World title and were trying to jail him.He did all this with a fierce intelligence and fantastic sense of humour which
endeared him to all who met him. What about his battles in the ring?.Well these were legendary, especially his fights with Smokin Joe Frazier and the incredible Big George Foreman.Mind you to win the title originally he had to defeat Sonny Liston who was at that time was  thought to be unbeatable.A supreme athlete  and superlative boxer who was unmatched in ringcraft in the ultimate arena for sporting glory.
