Ayr United v Inverness Caledonian Thistle
« on: January 28, 2019, 11:01:40 »
Hopefully the frosty weather will relent and this vital game will go ahead.

It's important to keep up the momentum after Friday night's fighting display in horrible conditions against an admittedly feeble Dundee United side. The same physical effort will be required against a big, powerful Inverness side if we hope to get a result and keep the pressure up on Ross County.

The Manager will have a big decisions to make whether to continue to play Craig Moore or bring in Lawrence Shankland from the start. I would give Moore the first half at least to see if he can continue the improvement in form shown on Friday night.

Hopefully, we can bring in a player soon who can actually make a reasonable fist at taking a free kick from outside the box as our efforts in recent games have been truly awful. Not since the departure of Gary Harkins have we had anyone who you could rely on to at least get a shot on target now and again. Mind you, he wasn't much use for anything else.

Come on Ayr - prove the doubters (including me) wrong.

Ruled out he's been loaned out already to Ebbsfleet and played for Coventry you can't play for 3 clubs in a season

Hopefully the game can go ahead. However if the forecast were to mean travel from up north was going to be hazardous you really would hope that it would be postponed before the journey was attempted.

The pitch may well be fine but will the roads between Inverness and Ayr? Perhaps they will but it surely deserves consideration by the powers that be.

I remember once hearing our game at Dumbarton was off when I was about Silverburn. On the day of the rearranged game I found it was off at the turnstile! Next time the game actually went ahead - and we lost! Happy days.

Three goals absolutely gifted in 18 minutes. Shankland needs to start on Saturday as does Aaron Muirhead who showed some promise in his short time on the field. I thought Harvie had a rather poor game and Crawford seems to think he must always pass out to the wing when he receives the ball around the edge of the penalty box. Still in the mix but there are clear areas for improvement. Perhaps Ian McCall could tear a strip off them before the game begins instead of during half time.

Shambolic play by the normally solid Rose (goals 1 and 3) and Bell (goal 2) created the opportunities (they were three good finishes btw) so I am a bit perplexed why Crawford and Harvie are being singled. In the 2nd half I only remembered Murdoch was still on in the 85th minute so strange how we see the game differently.

Given we had two cleared off the line and seemed to hit the post in the 1st half and one cleared off the line before we scored the first, and that we scored two a perplexing result.

How many attempts is it since we beat ICT in the league?

Agreed about the goals! My first sentence was meant to cover that.
