Doohan Rumour.
« on: December 16, 2018, 17:16:46 »
Really hope this twitter rumour is just that and Doohan is going no-where in January. Can't see the benefits of returning to Celtic unless of course he's going to get a game following Gordon's howler the other night  ;D then I would understand.

Hope this is just a rumour, Dorus De Vries might actually be a better keeper but I would rather keep the same team, as the defense understand Doohan way of playing / partnership etc.

January is going to be a horrible month of speculation of transfer stories. not looking forward to it.

I think this is a lot of nonsense, I can't see what is in it for Doohan or Celtic.

Looking at the thread I don't quite get the hyperbole around Ross Doohan - I'm putting Saturdays defensive meltdown by both teams to the side by the way.

His composure and command of the box, ability on crosses is great. He is part of a strong defence who don't lose a lot of goals and who prevent the opposition creating lots of chances.

But that said my second comment is why I don't understand the hyperbole. He has not had a lot of shot stopping to do and I haven't really seen him make an unbelievable save largely because he hasn't had to - only goal I can fault him with was the Morton free kick on his debut.

I'm not being negative, he is one of the best keepers we have had in years, I just can't judge if as a shot stopper he looks like a future Scotland number one and that is because we are generally defensively sound.

If we'd had Doohan last season it wouldn't have come down to the last day

I don't disagree and he is a very good keeper but being better than Jordan Hart doesn't mean you are a future Scotland number 1 which is the jist of the comments on the reposted tweet.

I hope that this is a nothing story.  I was critical of Doohan at the start of the season and I have come back on this forum and I have admitted that I got it all wrong.  The lad has done excellent down here and playing every week has improved his game no end.  I agree that if there is any truth in this story, then there is nothing in it for Ross.  He is an import part of this Ayr United team and I would love to see him stay with us for a lot longer.
