Ayr Utd v Inverness Caley
« on: December 03, 2018, 20:01:14 »
Here we go again, more Friday night football this time for BT Sport.

Given that Caley have only lost one league game this season, it confirms if not already that the game will be a challenge and with recent results at home being draws, probably high odds of the game finishing even.  I hope I'm wrong and with the confidence post DUFC game Super Ayr get another early goal and go on to win the game.

Gales forecast on Friday, already a weather warning in place. I assume the game will go ahead but it might be a bit farcical like the Arbroath away game last season.

Inverness playing Edinburgh City tonight, hopefully City give them a tough game.

From a personal point of view wish the game was on Saturday as unlikely to make it due to family commitments.  Bigger picture wish it was a Saturday at 3pm kick off to see if the near perfect performance on live TV from last Friday night would translate into an uplift in the crowd - if that doesn't bring a few extra folks through the gates then nothing will.

Update regards entry :

Quote
The Railway End is open tomorrow for our supporters. Due to damage to the Somerset Road End turnstiles the railway end turnstiles will also be open for entry. Full details later in our match preview and information

Just to confirm and ensure everyone aware..

Quote
Due to damage to the Somerset Road end turnstiles, home fans will enter through turnstiles 2, 3 and 5 at the Railway End.  From here you will be able to transfer from one end to the other for the match.  Entry to the North Terrace and Main Stand remain unchanged.  Please arrive in plenty of time as this area may become congested.

I'm guessing entry via the north terrace to SRE would be the easier option.

The correct decision. A lot of moaning about it being called off but imagine we'd lost because of a crazy goal, everyone would be raging that the ref let the game go ahead.
Anything could have happened in those conditions, with the team we have I'd much rather play in decent conditions.

I agree it was probably the right decision but it should have happened much earlier, given the forecast. No big deal for folk living in Ayr but, however few there may have been, what about ICT supporters who travelled from up north? Plus the team of course.

Embarrassingly pathetic, couldn't someone have arranged an earlier inspection prior to travel outset. Would still have inconvenienced some who had to change shifts and travel further. Who's job is it to ensure conditions are playable? Forecasts in weather are usually fairly reliable. Pity some other than supporters aren't hit in the pocket. Now we have no game this weekend.

The groundsman can make it playable if it is waterlogged. Nobody can make it playable if the wind is too strong.

Ross County 1 - Queen Of The South 1 and Morton 1 - Dundee United 1. These results leave us top with a home game in hand. Things have gone quite well for us today.

Pretty certain that there is no official rules about postponing due to strong winds unless there is a public safety risk and we have played some farcical matches when technically it was unplayable - Christmas Eve 2016 - would winning that have kept us up - and the cup tie against Dunfermline in 2015 being recent examples.

It looks like both Iain McCall and John Robertson didn't want the game to go ahead given the importance to both teams and persuaded Craig Thomson to postpone. Bit rubbish for the ICT fans but were many expected for a Friday night kick off in December that was on the TV.

It's done now, but for future forecasts of 50mph+ winds, maybe a little forward planning, ie plan B and C just incase. Oh well.
