Dundee Utd v Ayr Utd (Friday 30th)
« on: November 26, 2018, 09:08:43 »
The first of the TV & Friday night games double header.

So DUFC on a run of form winning 5 of the last 6 matches since that 2-0 defeat by Super Ayr. With Moore suspended, I'm guessing Moffat will be back in the starting line up and conspiracy theorist would suggest this is a good thing for Shankland as Moffat starts and Shankland scoring seem to go hand in hand.

Ross County would be looking for a draw and right at the minute I would to happy with any points as a bonus. Saying that would love to put Neislon & DUFC back in the box with a win and open the gap at the top  8) of the table. (still feels weird typing that)

Should be a reasonable crowd and atmosphere, need to double check our TV appearance stats (unless anyone already knows ?)

For a Monday, will go for a confident 0-1 Win.

I see that the scaffolding is up at Somerset for the following weeks game, so they've been quick in getting it erected

Tough game on Friday but we can do it
Mon Ayr, Mon Super Ayr !!!!!!!

Some TV Facts:

Quote
Since Alba came on the scene our live TV games have been more prolific. In the meantime here is some general information.

The first televised match involving Ayr United was a 5-2 league win at home to Arbroath on 15th November, 1958.
The first Ayr United match to be televised live in its entirety was a 4-0 Skol Cup defeat away to Celtic on 22nd August, 1990.
The first home match to be televised live in its entirety was a 2-0 Scottish Cup defeat against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on 16th January, 2006.
The first Ayrshire derby to be televised live in its entirety was a 3-1 Scottish Cup defeat at Kilmarnock on 22nd January, 2009.
On 20th May 2009, (home) and 24th May 2009, (away) the two legs of the First Division play-off final were played against Airdrie United resulting in Ayr United winning 3-2 on aggregate. Both legs were televised live in their entirety on BBC Alba. This coverage differed from previous television broadcasts of Ayr United games because, for both ties, the commentaries were in Gaelic.

Remarkably little chat about this game. Does that mean everyone fears the worst?

We will definitely miss Mark Kerr's experience in midfield if his injury doesn't clear up in time. However, we have good replacements to take over at the moment, but cannot afford many more injuries/suspensions or the team will start to struggle big time.

Does anyone know how long Adams and Forrest will be out as they're being badly missed.

I, personally, would settle for a draw to keep the points ticking over. Fingers crossed.

Double header this weekend, tonight's game then Carnoustie v Troon tomorrow using the originally booked train tickets.

We'll still have a strong team so no need to fear but after the last two home games we should have more opportunity to counterattack.

TV highlight of the year. In one game Shankland restores his goal a game stat. Awesome performance.

Was worried about tonight. Don't know Why!!! What a fantastic result. I don't remember Ross Doohan having a save to make.

On St Andrew's Day 1874 Winston Churchill was born, an event of historical importance. More importantly, 144 years later to the day, Ayr United won five nil at Dundee United. Bliss was it on that day to be alive!

That would be fantastic if true. Hopefully we get a big transfer fee and future sell on clause too.

Having watched the full match and the highlights a couple of times I think all three of the following had a major impact - Robbie Neilson deciding that nobody needed to bother marking or staying goal side of Shankland, Robbie Crawford playing in the middle rather than out left and the Moff back up front partnering Shankland.

Mark Kerr been great so far but barring injury we cannot change that starting eleven for Friday night.

The control and finish for the fifth goal was sublime - reminiscent of Dennis Bergkamp

Not that anyone will be bored with the highlights but check out the DUFC version for extra comedy value with DUFC commentary
