ICT V Ayr
« on: August 06, 2018, 07:48:30 »
So already we have beat Partick (twice) and Morton but ICT wll be no doubt completely different challenge. Some horrible memories of games up there so a little anxious about the game.

Moore is returning to training, so may be included in the squad.

Travel info has been updated on the Travel thread both the Travel club & BellRock running buses.

it mwon't be easy, but might be more of a barometer of how we will fare this season, would take a point but (trying to keep a lid on it) i don't see why we can't beat them....

I'll be over the moon with a point.
Be prepared for a expensive day, 20 for adults, 15 for 16 to 25 and over 65, 6 for under 16.

Officials for the game :
Referee: Andrew Dallas
AR1: Graeme Stewart
AR2: David Burns

Going to be optimistic for this one and predict a 1-1 result. Can't really remember winning at Inverness any time recently and too many bad results clouding my judgment.

Painful memories, especially 2001. Four and a half hours journey then 3-0 up before losing 4-3. Followed by 4  and a half hours back home on the bus.

I've never seen Ayr win up there, and the only time we did I was watching a tedious Premiership game at Aston Villa. Heading up on Saturday but confident this team will break the hoodoo. No injury time controversial penalties for them please.

god I hope so.. only down side (if there is a down side) is the positivity  for the team would enter over-drive (if not already) and create some real belief we can and will compete in this league.

I think its tradition at this point to say "its just like a home game for the Aberdeen boys"  :P

Aye like Stranraer or Queen of The South are the alternate derby day fixture for us rather than somebody relatively nearby like Queens Park, Morton, St Mirren, Partick, Airdrie, Clyde. Not sure any difference where we play ICT our record is equally honking at Somerset. Haven't played them in the league for years so time to put the hoodoo to rest.

I wonder next season when we are in the SPL and K*ll*e have been relegated who they will decide is our alternate derby game - Aberdeen maybe?  :) :o ;) :) ;D

been reading the ICT fans forum... some great one liners in there to show the team :

Quote
shankland may well be a great striker but he's still very much lower league quality

Quote
Why is everyone worried about Shankland?  All his goals came at a lower level and there's nothing in his career to date to show he is prolific at any higher level!

Love the ICT reply...
Quote
Shankland v Morton - 3 goals
Shankland v Partick - 1 goal
Shankland v Partick round 2 - 2 goals
Hes clearly proving to be a bit of a goal machine.

Agree with this statement:
Quote
The first goal is vital and whomever gets it will, I think, win the match.

The more ICT  take the view that Lawrence Shankland is "unproved" the better. While I'm not comparing them, the same may well have been said long ago in Portuguese about Pele, who might still have been do Nascimento then. I'm hopeful but not over confident of success tomorrow. In the end, any team's ambition should be simple to state - to win the next game. 'Mon Ayr!

Forecast looks decent as well. Looking forward to a good day out on the train with hopefully at least a point to take home.

Queen of the South is our new year 'derby' this season.
PS. Cant say I like Morton much either.

Obviously we wanted to win today but a 0 - 0 draw, playing for an hour with ten men after Harvie goes off in 30 minutes due, I believe, to two yellows, is quite encouraging. We are third - level on points and goal difference with Morton (+2) and above ICT (+1), Morton getting second on goals scored. So far, so good.

Must be one of the longest runs we have had without a 0-0 draw. Different side of the team team today digging in and grinding out a result - albeit we were helped by the penalty miss. Wonder if McCall will give Fin Ecrepont the nod for next Saturday.
